-: BRP’s mission is to safeguard the public health and safety and the environment from harmful and unwanted, unnecessary or inappropriate exposure from controllable radiation sources.

-: BRP oversees the regulation and inspection of users of machine radiation sources throughout Pennsylvania and conducts a comprehensive environmental radiation monitoring program.

-: BRP conducts a nuclear safety review; evaluates nuclear power plants; conducts an emergency radiation response program; administers a statewide radon program; licenses and inspects users of radium and accelerator-produced radioactive material; and implements a program for siting and regulating any future low-level radioactive waste disposal facility in Pennsylvania.
