-: The Department of Insurance is comprised of three divisions.
-: The Regulatory Services Division is responsible for licensing insurance companies; for ensuring that the licensed companies remain solvent and compliant with all the requirements of Georgia laws and regulations; for receiving and reviewing license applications from insurers and other entities; and for making recommendations to the Commissioner as to whether the applicant satisfies the necessary requirements.
-: The Life and Health Division works directly with insurers and insurance company product related filings; deals with managed care utilization review; helps resolve medical provider and payor claims issues; and conducts educational and outreach programs regarding appropriate claims filing and paying practices for health care providers.
-: The Property and Casualty Division is tasked with ensuring all property and casualty insurance rates, rules, and forms used in Georgia comply with state law; and with requiring all property and casualty insurers licensed to operate in Georgia to file their premium rates, underwriting rules, and policy forms.
