Main Activity Of Division Of Solid And Hazardous Waste

-: DSHW’s mission is to protect public health and the environment by ensuring proper management of solid and hazardous wastes within the state of Utah.

-: DSHW is organized into five sections with distinct areas of authority: hazardous waste management; hazardous waste facilities; commercial and federal facilities; solid waste; and used oil.

-: Interests of DSHW include state environmental regulations; environmental assessments; pollution; permits; compliance evaluation inspections; chemical weapons and warfare agents; waste treatment and storage; used oil collection and disposal; used tire disposal; and common household chemical hazards.

-: DSHW answers questions; provides information on their Website; offers technical assistance to facilities; conducts an outreach program for small quantity generators of hazardous waste; facilitates basic hazardous waste training sessions for businesses; and gives presentations on hazardous waste management and pollution prevention for schools and community groups.
