Main Activity Of National Lead Information Center
-: NLIC is a national resource center devoted to supplying information about the hazards of lead-based paint and other environmental sources of lead.
-: NLIC’s mission is to help the public understand the sources of lead in the home and how to control lead hazards to protect children and adults from lead exposure.
-: To this end, NLIC operates a toll-free hotline in English and Spanish through which callers can ask questions and receive basic, user-friendly information on lead and lead poisoning.
-: Additionally, NLIC operates a clearinghouse that distributes a variety of informational materials including: federal publications and selected journal articles; updates and summaries of lead-related federal laws, regulations, and lead-related federal grant programs; and information on laboratories qualified to test for lead in soil, paint, and dust.
