Main Activity Of Office Of The Inspector General
-: OIG’s mission, as mandated by Public Law 95-452 (as amended), is to protect the integrity of HHS programs, as well as the health and welfare of the beneficiaries of those programs.
-: OIG has a responsibility to report both to the Secretary of HHS and to the Congress program and management problems and recommendations to correct them.
-: OIG’s duties are carried out through a nationwide network of audits, investigations, inspections, and other mission-related functions performed by OIG components.
-: There are five offices which make up OIG: the Office of Audit Services (OAS); the Office of Evaluation and Inspections (OEI); the Office of Investigations; the Office of Counsel to the Inspector General (OCIG); and the Office of Management and Policy (OMP).
