Main Activity Of Student Conservation Association
-: (SCA) protects and restores national parks, marine sanctuaries, cultural landmarks, and community green spaces in all 50 states.
-: SCA’s mission is to build the next generation of conservation leaders and inspire lifelong stewardship of the environment and communities by engaging young people in hands-on service to the land.
-: SCA interns focus on conservation issues, including wildland fires, environmental education, ecological restoration, and species preservation.
-: SCA offers programs in four major categories: Conservation Internships, in which adults 18 and older live and work with resource management professionals at natural and cultural sites nationwide; Conservation Corps, also for those 18 and older, in which corps of ten or more provide specialized conservation services in rustic, residential settings; Conservation Crews, in which current high school students, aged 15-19, serve in crews of six-to-eight members with experienced crew leaders for approximately one month during summer vacation building trails, restoring lands, and exploring the outdoors; and Urban Initiatives, in which middle and high school youth in leading metropolitan areas participate in outdoor field trips, community service projects, and weekend excursions in and around the city in which they live.
