Main Activity Of State Fire Marshal’s Office

-: The SFMO provides a number of services related to the safety of residents and guests of the state.

-: The functions of the SFMO are divided into four bureaus: Fire Training Academy; Fire Service Support; Arson Investigations; and Code Enforcement.

-: The Fire Training Academy’s objectives and goals are: to provide training programs designed to develop the basic and advanced skills necessary for students to be more effective members of the fire service and society; to provide the best instruction and training possible in all areas of the fire service; to serve the public at large by providing education services, training, and counseling; and to provide a means to allow firefighters to demonstrate their ability to meet professional qualification standards.

-: The Arson Investigations Bureau respond to all requests for assistance from local fire departments and law enforcement agencies with investigators trained in origin and cause, evidence collection, interviewing, fraud investigation and other aspects of criminal investigation.
