Main Activity Of Young Women’s Project
-: Through a structured program of training, information, skills, tools, and knowledge, the YWP takes young women through a process where they realize and develop their own power; trust and support each other; and use their skills and knowledge to create projects that strengthen the broader community.
-: The YWP operates Teen Women in Action (TWA) an after-school program that builds teen women leaders in the District of Columbia through self advocacy, leadership development, and project implementation – improving academic performance as well as knowledge and skills in problem solving, communication, goal setting, conflict resolution, peer support, reproductive health, mental and physical health, violence, and other issues.
-: TWA is a year-long program that meets once a week after school and uses interactive trainings; school-based projects; academic and career support and tracking; and individual support via peer counseling, stipends, field trips, materials, and social service referrals.
-: In addition, the YWP operates several teen-led projects that train and support teen staff and members who work to challenge and improve teen-serving institutions through city-wide Issue Campaigns.
