Main Activity Of Department Of Disabilities, Aging And Independent Living
-: The mission of the Department of Disabilities, Aging and Independent Living is to make Vermont the best state in which to grow old or to live with a disability with dignity, respect and independence.
-: The Department of Disabilities, Aging and Independent Living has four divisions that help carry out its mission.
-: The Division of Disability and Aging Services is responsible for all community-based long-term care services for older Vermonters, individuals with developmental disabilities, traumatic brain injuries and physical disabilities; and contracts with a variety of local private non-profit service providers to provide services and supports to older Vermonters and people with disabilities.
-: The Division for the Blind and Visually Impaired is the designated state unit to provide vocational rehabilitation services; and has a mission to support the efforts of Vermonters who are blind and visually impaired to achieve or sustain their economic independence, self reliance, and social integration to a level consistent with their interests, abilities and informed choices.
