-: PSIS, within the College of Natural Sciences at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, develops and conveys knowledge about insect biology, entomology, population dynamics, insect behavior, biological control, evolution, systematics, toxicology, physiology and pest management, and responsible plant, soil, and water management.
-: PSIS conducts outreach programs that emphasize the study and technology transfer related to growth of food and ornamental crops, protection of soil and water, improvement of plants, development of new crops, management of harvested materials, remediation of pollution in soil and water, and use of urban and agricultural by-products.
-: PSIS also promotes both the adoption of improved pest management strategies and greater appreciation of insects as part of the natural world.
-: There are three experimental farms at PSIS.
