-: In addition, the Emergency Medical Services Section approves local Medical Control Authorities (a hospital or group of hospitals) which provide community based prehospital emergency care oversight.
-: Each county (or group of counties) is required to have such an Authority with the responsibility to establish policies, procedures and protocols focusing specifically on how prehospital emergency care will be carried out within their particular geographic area.
-: The Emergency Medical Services Section approves each of the 66 Authority’s prehospital care policies, procedures and protocols prior to implementation.
-: The Emergency Medical Services Section is responsible to ensure that all life support agencies are in compliance with the communications standards prescribed under the State Medical Communications requirements.
