-: Research conducted at ERC is designed to increase the understanding of coastal ecosystems so that they may be properly managed and protected.

-: ERC maintains facilities that include: a 22,000 square foot laboratory and office building; a fleet of research vessels; outdoor and indoor facilities with flow through ambient water; teaching laboratory, conference room, and library; scuba support and dire locker; range or research laboratories, including isotope, constante temperature, and image analysis labs; and a private dock providing access to the Patuxent River.
