-: The mission of the INPC is to assist private and public land owners in protecting high quality natural areas and habitats of endangered and threatened species in perpetuity through voluntary dedication or registration of such lands into the Illinois Nature Preserves System.
-: INPC promotes the preservation of these significant lands and provides leadership in their stewardship, management and protection.
-: INPC is empowered to maintain inventories of the natural land resources of Illinois and to accept and supervise formal dedications of nature preserves in a system protected by stringent legal safeguards.
-: INPC interests include: preservation of natural areas; inventory of Illinois natural areas; and protection and management of habitats of rare, threatened, and endangered species and high quality natural biotic communities.
