-: As a Federally-designated University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research, and Service, the IHDD is dedicated to working with others to create opportunities that will improve the quality of life for people with disabilities and their families.
-: All activities designed to achieve this mission are based on the principles of full community inclusion; respect for the unique characteristics of all individuals and families; the provision of competency-and value-based educational experiences; and promotion of the provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
-: Programs administered by IHDD include early childhood intervention; outreach and training for parents, service providers, and professionals; capacity-building for service systems, communities, and families to enable them to include children and adults with disabilities in all aspects of community life and to help foster self-determination; AmeriCorps; and National Service Projects.
-: The IHDD maintains a resource center and the Children with Special Needs Library, a free-loan program of over 150 videos for providers and other individuals working with children with special needs.
