-: Kennedy Mental Retardation Research Center (Kennedy Center) is a part of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Chicago and was established to promote collaborative research in the causes, prevention, and treatment of mental retardation and developmental disabilities.

-: Staff consists of scientists who have active research programs in areas related to understanding brain function and the cause of developmental abnormalities.

-: Research interests include defining the principles governing normal nervous system developmental processes that may lead to brain dysfunction and mental retardation; mechanisms of neurodegeneration which affect brain development and function; skeletal dysplasias which affect growth and maturation; and signaling pathways which affect migration and differentiation.

-: The Kennedy Center provides training for young researchers, clinicians, and students; tailors research programs based on the interest of the individual researchers; and offers resources to other sections in the Department of Pediatrics via a seminar series, visiting lectureships, and several shared research facilities.
