Main Activity Of Maryland Department Of Agriculture
-: The MDA is comprised of three operating units.
-: The Office of Plant Industries and Pest Management is responsible for: pesticide regulation; forest pest management; plant protection and weed management; turf and seed; mosquito control and the State chemist.
-: The Office of Marketing, Animal Industries and Consumer Services is tasked with the divisions of: Animal Health; Maryland Horse Industry Board; Veterinary Medical Examiners; Food Quality Assurance; and Maryland Products which deals with agritourism, aquaculture, seafood and farmer’s markets.
-: The Office of Resource Conservation works closely with Maryland farmers and soil conservation districts to plan and implement conservation practices and programs that balance crop and livestock production with the need to protect natural resources.
