This Drug Is Prescribed For Prophylaxis of meningitis during and epidemic caused by group A C meningococci Vaccine is given as a single dose subcutaneously and appear to provide protection between 35 years but children under the age of 4 years the protection last 23 years Thus it is advisable to give two doses of vaccine at an interval of three months to children below the age of two years

Lactation Class L4 There is positive evidence of risk to a breastfed infant or to breastmilk production but the benefits of use in breastfeeding mothers may be acceptable despite the risk to the infant eg if the drug is needed in a lifethreatening situation or for a serious disease for which safer drugs cannot be used or are ineffective
