-: In 2010, the name was changed to NASUAD in an effort to formally recognize the work that the state agencies were undertaking in the field of disability policy and advocacy.
-: NASUAD represents the nation’s 56 state and territorial agencies on aging and disabilities and supports visionary state leadership, the advancement of state systems innovation and the articulation of national policies that support home and community based services for older adults and individuals with disabilities.
-: The mission of NASUAD is to design, improve, and sustain state systems delivering home and community based services and supports for people who are older or have a disability, and their caregivers.
-: Core areas of competency of the NASUAD include collecting, analyzing and facilitating use of information among state on innovative and effective policies and programs; representing states’ interests in design and development of comprehensive long term services and supports; providing state specific technical assistance on systems design, information, planning, and transformation; fostering the development of strategic partnerships; and facilitating communications among federal, state and local decision makers through various media, including national meetings.
