Main Activity Of Office Of Postsecondary Education
-: The International and Foreign Language Education division was established by the Higher Education Opportunity Act on August 14, 2008 and is responsible for encouraging and promoting the study of foreign languages and cultures of other countries at the elementary, secondary, and postsecondary levels in the United States, and for coordinating with related international and foreign language education programs of other federal agencies.
-: The OPE includes two major organizational components.
-: Policy, Planning, and Innovation develops postsecondary education policy and legislative proposals and is responsible for budget formulation and forecasting for programs administered by OPE.
-: Higher Education Programs (HEP) administers programs that increase access to postsecondary education for disadvantaged students, strengthen the capacity of colleges and universities that serve a high percentage of disadvantaged students, provide teacher and student development resources, and increase expertise in foreign languages and area or international studies.
