-: The GEC’s focus is on: training health professionals currently working with older people to provide better care; developing new clinical geriatrics services; and improving the curriculum in geriatrics in health professions schools.
-: The GEC provides training for licensed health professional, such as physicians, psychologists, dentists, nurses, social workers, rehabilitation therapists.
-: The shortage of geriatrics educators and health professionals is recognized in every region of this country with the shortage even more acutely felt in the Pacific Basin as it presents unique challenges of vast distances, extreme rural nature, and diversity of ethnicity and language.
-: To be effective and efficient in this region, the GEC has established and maintained a close collaboration with a large number of other programs in the region.
