-: PH is a rare blood vessel disorder of the lung in which the pressure in the pulmonary artery (the blood vessel that leads from the heart to the lungs) rises above normal levels and may become life threatening.
-: The vision of the PHA is to improve the lives of those affected by PH.
-: Founded in 1990 by three patients with PH, PHA has grown to include patients, family members, caregivers, and medical professionals.
-: PHA maintains a help line with trained volunteers, each of whom is living with PH; sponsors support groups throughout the United States and abroad; acts as a source of information and fellowship for the PH community; produces two patient-edited newsletters; gathers the PH community together every two years at the PHA International Conference; raises funds for research into PH; and advocates for expanded federal research and funding.
