Main Activity Of Radiological Health Section
-: The Radiological Health Program is responsible for the safe use of radiation sources within the state of Alaska.
-: Under Alaska statute, the Radiological Health Program is responsible for radiation protection which includes: the development of policies for evaluating radiation hazards; conducting surveys/investigations; and training.
-: This includes measurement and safe use of radiation; reviewing plans and shielding specifications for radiation sources; inspecting facilities where radiation sources are used; and contracting with other agencies where a cooperative effort is required in order to address radiation hazards.
-: These responsibilities include both ionizing and non-ionizing sources, and radiation producing devices as well as radioactive materials.
