-: Since 1971, SEA has been recognized as the national leader in education under sail offering multi-disciplinary academic views of the oceans for college undergraduates, for high school students, and for teachers.
-: Interests of SEA include: dynamic oceanography, marine biology, naval architecture, ocean engineering, physical oceanography, and ocean environments.
-: SEA provides undergraduates with an opportunity to participate in an academic study-abroad program called the SEA Semester, which combines intensive research in the areas of oceanography, maritime studies, and nautical science with hands-on experience aboard a traditional sailing ship.
-: Piloting, celestial navigation, and practical seamanship are learned together with oceanographic sampling techniques, and marine laboratory procedures.
