Main Activity Of Sibling Support Project
-: The Sibling Support Project seeks to increase the peer support and information opportunities for brothers and sisters of people with special needs and to increase parents’ and providers’ understanding of sibling issues.
-: The Sibling Support Project’s mission is accomplished: by training local service providers on how to create community-based peer support programs for young siblings; by hosting workshops, listservs, and Websites for young and adult siblings; and by increasing parents’ and providers’ awareness of siblings’ unique, life-long, and ever changing concerns through workshops, Websites, and written materials.
-: Based in Seattle since 1990, the Sibling Support Project has trained service providers in all 50 States, England, Ireland, New Zealand, and Japan on how to implement the Sibshop program for young brothers and sisters, resulting in over 200 replications in eight countries.
-: The Sibling Support Project has published curricula and children’s books that assist agencies in starting Sibshops and to assist young siblings.
