Main Activity Of South Carolina Department Of Probation, Parole And Pardon Services
-: SCDPPPS is composed of three divisions: Field Operations, Administrative, and Legal Services.
-: SCDPPPS mission statement is to prepare offenders under its supervision toward becoming productive members of the community; to provide assistance to the victims of crimes, the courts, and the Parole Board; and to protect public trust and safety.
-: SCDPPPS monitors offender activities in the community; assesses offender risk and needs in order to provide offenders access to specialized service providers and other available resources; issues citations or arrest warrants if violations occur; provides services to victims; oversees the transfer of offenders to other states; and administers sanctions designed to give offenders the opportunity to succeed and to protect community safety, including regular probation, regular parole, intensive supervision, home detention, electronic monitoring, restitution centers, community control centers, and public service employment.
-: The South Carolina Board of Paroles and Pardons, which is within the SCDPPPS, is vested with the following statutory powers: granting or denying paroles and pardons; revoking, modifying, or rehearing paroles; and making recommendations on petitions for reprieves and commutations referred by the Governor.
