Main Activity Of Southeastern Rural Mental Health Research Center
-: SRMHRC focuses its research on the delivery of formal and informal services to rural, impoverished, minority, mentally ill persons in the southeastern United States, and on the improvement of patient outcomes.
-: Priorities of SRMHRC include: identifying mechanisms to facilitate access to care; developing cost-effective interventions; and incorporating an understanding of poverty and of culture on client needs and care delivery.
-: SRMHRC’s other emphases include: developing strategies to improve access to mental healthcare through linkages with churches, welfare reform programs, and community health centers; and improving practice and outcomes in the specialty mental health system.
-: SRMHRC’ studies use qualitative and quantitative methods, and include primary data collection studies as well as the use of large nationally representative secondary data sets.
