Main Activity Of Swiss Tropical Institute
-: STI’s teaching and research efforts, conducted in association with the University of Basel, are concentrated in the fields of parasitology and biology of infection, as well as public health and epidemiology.
-: STI’s medical services division is aimed at the Swiss general public, but STI’s international component supports health care developments in countries to the south and east of Switzerland.
-: Medical services offered include care for sick travelers returning from tropical and subtropical countries; advice for short- and long-term travelers on preventive measures such as vaccinations and disease prevention; 24-hour service for clinical and diagnostic emergencies; advisory services for physicians on tropical and travel-related diseases; diagnostic services for parasitic diseases; support for travel clinic and diagnostic laboratories; and testing of insect repellents.
