-: USAARL objectives are to prevent or minimize health hazards in the military operational environment, and to sustain aviator performance.
-: Research areas include acoustics, vision, crew workload, stress and fatigue, and life support systems.
-: USAARL participates in the development and source selection of Army aircraft systems, and is equipped with flight simulators to study effects of environmental extremes, medications, and stress on aviator performance.
-: Specific research goals include improvement of soldier/system integration and performance in aviation systems; evaluation and mitigation of adverse effects of health hazards such as noise, repeated impact, stress, and fatigue; enhancement of aviation life support equipment through improved design criteria, evaluation of medical equipment for use aboard medical evacuation helicopters, and identification and resolution of operational problems in the aviation environment.
