-: The NRT provides technical assistance, resources and coordination on preparedness, planning, response, and recovery activities for emergencies involving: hazardous substances, pollutants and contaminants, hazardous materials, oil, and weapons of mass destruction in natural and technological disasters and other environmental incidents of national significance.
-: The NRT has three standing committees.
-: The Preparedness Committee promotes enhanced preparedness capabilities at the national, regional, state, and local levels for oil and hazardous materials spills by implementing activities designed to promote the utilization of state-of-the-art methods and technologies for planning and preparedness.
-: The Response Committee provides a forum for the NRT to assess the effectiveness of oil spill and hazardous substance incident reporting and response mechanisms.
