Main Activity Of National Keratoconus Foundation
-: NKCF, founded in 1986, is dedicated to increasing the awareness and understanding of keratoconus (KC); to supporting scientific research into the cause and treatment of KC; and to disseminating information about KC to patients, their families, and eye care professionals.
-: KC is a non-inflammatory eye condition in which the normally round dome-shaped cornea progressively thins causing a cone-like bulge to develop, resulting in significant visual impairment.
-: NKCF provides the following services: Keratoconus-Link, a worldwide interactive forum for people with keratoconus, a free e-mail based mail list for both keratoconus patients and eye care providers; NKCF Registry, a database of demographic information about keratoconus; NKCF Outreach Program, a list of outreach volunteers for those individuals who want personal contact with other keratoconus patients; patient education seminars; support groups; referral service; and NKCF research programs.
